Two years ago, William was an army paratrooper, just like he had always wanted to be. When he was wounded, while on active duty, William was told that he would never walk again and would use a wheelchair for the rest of his life. However, William was determined to re-train and get a new job. He now works in the office of a local building company.

William missed army life and his mates. When he was feeling down, he channelled his energy into finding out as much as he could about the services for young disabled people like himself. On a regular trip to hospital, he picked up a LINk newsletter. He was eager to find out more about this organisation that said it was helping to improve health and care services. After reading the newsletter, he decided to become a member.

William  receives updates from the LINk and passes this information on to other disabled people who he feels may be interested in the work of the LINk. He feels he is playing a valuable role by saying, “It’s your shout!”, when he passes on information about the LINk to other people.
