Jo is 52 and single. He lives with his father, who is in his late 70’s and very frail. He works hard and helps to care for his dad. In the evenings, he used to go to a social club to meet his friends, but he worries about leaving his dad alone.

On a rare visit to the social club, Jo heard a talk about the Local Involvement Network. This made him wonder if the LINk could help him. He found out more on the LINk  website and signed up as a member.

Jo found out all he could about the LINk. This gave him confidence to ring Social Services to ask if things could be done differently to help him to look after his dad. This first step changed Jo’s life. By talking with Social Services he was able to change the times when care was provided for his dad.

Jo attends LINk meetings when he can. He often speaks on behalf of Carers, and when he goes to the social club, he tells his friends, “It‘s your turn, join the LINk, and learn how things can be changed for the better".
